In this stage CWM touch will be flashed on your One X

Step 7. Restart your phone and the turn it off. Then press and hold Volume Down + Power to boot in to ClockworkMode Recovery.

Step 8. Make a nandroid backup.

Step 9. Choose SuperSU.zip from your sdcard to install it.

After rooting your Android phone you will want to install the Superuser.apk application which allows you to control what applications can execute commands as root. This is to help protect against applications randomly doing things that could be potentially malicious to your phone.

The su application allows commands to be executed as root.

To install Superuser.apk and su follow these instructions after rooting your droid:

Step 1 (Enable USB Debugging Mode)

Enable “USB Debugging” on your Droid Phone and plug your phone into your computer.

Step 2 (Download Superuser.apk and su)

Download and extract Superuser.apk and su to somewhere on your computer.

Step 3 (Push Superuser.apk and su to your Droid phone)

Using the Android ADB tool push Superuser.apk and su to your Droid phone

./adb push Superuser.apk /sdcard/Superuser.apk

./adb push su /sdcard/Superuser.apk

Step 4 (Installing Superuser.apk and su)

After uploading Superuser.apk and su you can install them by logging into the shell through ADB:

./adb shell

From the shell you will first need to remount the /system partition so you can write to it (by default it’s set to read-only):

# mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system

You will now be able to copy both Superuser.apk and su to your phones apps & system directory:

# cp /sdcard/Superuser.apk /system/app/Superuser.apk # cp /sdcard/su /system/bin/su

Since su needs special permissions to run (called SUID) you will need to run the chmod command to give it the proper permissions. We will then remount the partition so it is back to read-only:

# chmod 4755 /system/bin/su # mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system

Step 5 (Test your rooted Droid!)

You can test your rooted droid by either installing one of the many root-only Android applications or by simply running su in the shell. If it brings you to another shell session you should be good to go.

Rooting the Droid 2

Looking to root your new shiny Droid 2? Look no further! There is no simple GUI to root the new Droid2 however it is possible. You will need the following:

Download & Extract the Android SDK

USB cable

Enable “USB Debugging” on your Android Phone

SuperUser application (SuperUser.apk) *OPTIONAL*

Well the answer for this question is very simple because some Android OS devices are very popular in the consumer and developer world.

Well today even though some devices like GT-P3110 alias Galaxy Tab 2 aren’t that popular, I will present you a “How to” tutorial for rooting this device. This technique was discovered by a XDA Developer member known by the alias nycbjr. Using a leaked boot.img for GT-3100 he got root to his Galaxy Tab 2. So if you have the time and follow these steps you get too root on your Galaxy Tab 2.

Now let’s start presenting the steps that will root your device, but first you will need to know that for flashing the custom firmware you will be using an open-source platform and a cross-platform called Heimdall.

Phase 1. Just like l said before we will need Heimdall. You will need to download the zip file and extract the contents.

Phase 2. This phase involves entering in Download Mode on your Galaxy Tab 2. For those how do not know you can achieve this by powering down, and then power it up by holding Volume Down button.

Phase 3. Maybe you are wondering how will you know when you are in Download Mode. It is easy, you will get a message like Download Mode Do Not Turn Off Target. The only thing that you must do when you get this message is to connect your device to your computer using your USB cable.

Phase 4. After connecting your device you will need to download some files that will continue to help you root your device. These files are gt-p3110.pit and boot-bjr.img, destination folder for these files is the same as Heimdall platform.

Phase 5. We will need a command prompt session, then locate the folder for Heimdall and the use the following command to initiate the download procedure adb reboot download.

Phase 6. Open Heimdall UI and go to Flash tab. Now we will need to load the pit file in our case gt-p3110.pit.

Phase 7. In the Partition Details field select Kernel then hit add.

Phase 8. Click the Browse button and select boot-bjr.img then click Start.

Phase 9. After the rebooting process finishes input the following commands in to command prompt:

adb shell

./su

./gtab2-root.sh

If all went well you should have right now a rooted Galaxy Tab 2. Enjoy it!

Since the beginning of the android era, rooted devices wore the reason that the Android community raised so quickly. Imagine a world without restrictions even on your device. Now for almost all Samsung’s came a universal solution for Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Some say discovered by accident and then came out working for many models.

Remember: This version was not thoroughly tested by us on every Samsung, so we don’t guarantee that it works. You should have any 2.3.x version of the Android OS installed. Worked for us but as a last resort this can come in handy. Try SuperOneClick first!!!

Follow these steps:

Step 1: List of compatible devices: GT-S5363, GT-S5369, GT-S5690, GT-S5690L, GT-I5510M, GT-I5510L, B5512, GT-B5512B, GT-S6102, GT-I8150, GT-I8150B, GT-I5510, GT-I5510B, GT-S5360, GT-S5360L, GT-S5360T, GT-I5510T.

Step 2: On your device in Settings / Applications check Unknown Sources

Step 3: Download universal_gb_root_v15.zip and place it in the root folder of your device’s SD card

Step 4: With your device turned off enter in Recovery Mode by holding Volume UP, Power and Home simultaneously.

Step 5: Apply Update From SD Card and browse for the .zip file downloaded earlier

Step 6: Reboot System after it’s complete and enjoy a rooted Gingerbread Samsung.

Add-ons:

- Superuser v3.0.7

- SU binary v3.0.3.2

- BusyBox binary v1.19.4 (new)
