The latest build of the Android 4.0.3 for Samsung Galaxy S2 is here. Now you can download and install the Ice Cream Sandwich on your Galaxy S2 smartphone. This version comes with a few improvements. Like:

- GUI Speed – noticeably faster than the previous version

- Better Signal – new radios for signal increase

- Battery – the standby time has increased

- 3D effects – small changes to GUI – 3D feel like

Remember that this is a leaked version of the official Samsung ICS (this is not a custom build ROM), consider it stock firmware. Although the source is clean rootingdroid.com cannot be held responsible for eventual data loss or crashes that can appear during flashing and afterwards.

Note that you need a rooted Galaxy S2, to root your Samsung go here.

1st Step: Download all the necessary files

- ODIN 1.83 from here.

2nd Step: Close Samsung KIES in case is opened. This may interfere with ODIN.

3rd Step: Launch ODIN.

4th Step: Turn off your Galaxy S2 and enter in Download Mode by pressing Home + Volume Up + Power.

5th Step: Connect your SGS2 to the PC via USB. Odin will recognize it.

6th Step: In ODIN select PDA and browse for I9100_CODE_I9100XXLPB_CL99600_REV02_user_low_ship.tar from the previously downloaded files.

7th Step: Select CSC and browse for GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OXXLP5_RST.tar

8th Step: For MODEM choose MODEM_I9100XXLPB_REV_02_CL1101286.tar

9th Step: Click on START and Odin will flash your device.

ODIN is a utility that runs on Windows and is made for Samsung mobile devices that run Android OS. This third-party application can flash stock or custom ROMs on your smartphone. The only thing that you need to flash ROMs using ODIN is the Samsung USB driver. Just to be sure test your USB connectivity before continuing.
If you want to flash a custom ROM please follow these steps:
- First you will need to download ODIN (link below). ODIN is not path dependent so you can extract it anywhere you want.
- Using your data cable, connect your Android device to your computer. Turn off your mobile device for 30 seconds then power it up by pressing and holding HOME, POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons until you will be prompted that you have entered in download mode.
- Start ODIN on your computer. Before flashing your custom ROM you need to tweak ODIN. Check “Auto Reboot” then click on “PIT” button and select the PIT file for your ROM. After clicking “PDA” select the TAR file for your ROM.
- Finally start flashing the new ROM. Click Start and the process begins. When the process stops your mobile device will reboot automatically.

I will list the things that you will need to flash your Samsung smartphone:
- USB data cable
- USB driver
- ROM files, this includes PIT and TAR files
The apps are listed in the Applanet application and therefore available for download. Has roughly the same user interface as the Google market but for the paid apps the prices are stroked. The applanet.apk has reached version 2.9.0.2 and now is available for download also on our mirror. We’ve mirrored the applanet.apk because of some server problems on the Applanet.net. Remember that this apk requires an internet connection to login on the Applanet servers (obs. They have problems with these servers too). Because of the server loads you may not be able to use the app, donate to the developers to keep the app running, because I can ensure you’ll cut off the apps prices.

CyanogenMod 7 for Kindle Fire isn’t stable yet. We recommend waiting at least for a beta version. This version is for testing purposes only. It works only on Kindle Fire Software Version 6.0 and 6.1.

If you install CyanogenMod 7 you cannot go back to stock firmware and you will lose all of kindle Fire’s integration with Amazon.

If you still want to give it a try, here is a tutorial on how to install it.

Let’s get you started:

Step 1

Root your Kindle Fire

Step 2

Download CyanogenMod7 and place it at the root of your SD card so that its address is /sdcard/update.zip

Download ClockworkMod Recovery and place it to root of SD card as well.

Step 3

Download log and last_log and these under /catche/recovery as well as root of your SD card

Use the following adb commands to place log/last_log to /cache/recovery:

adb shell
cd cache
mkdir recovery
cd /
cp /sdcard/log /cache/recovery/
cp /sdcard/last_log /cache/recovery/

Step 4

We will now flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Use the following commands in adb:

adb shell
cd cache
mkdir recovery
cd /
cp /sdcard/log /cache/recovery/
cp /sdcard/last_log /cache/recovery/

To reboot into recovery, type:

idme bootmode 0×5001

If it say “bootmode has written”, type “reboot” to, well, reboot!

Your Kindle Fire will now boot into ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM).

Step 5

Press Power button on your Kindle Fire so you can install update.zip from SD card. /system, /data, and /catche will be wiped automatically. JackpotClavin modified CWM so that it would work with the Kindle Fire’s lack of buttons, so basically you just have to press the Power button a bunch of times.

In one of the menus, it’ll look like you have to scroll down to Yes. Instead, you must press Nobut it will, as the developer says, “mimic you pressing Yes”.

Step 6

After flashing CyanogenMod 7, the developer suggests reflashing the stock recovery. Download the stock recovery and use the following adb commands:

adb shell
mount sdcard
exit

Now, you must enter the correct path for where you’ve stored the stockrecovery.img file, so that your next adb command looks like this:

adb push <full path of file> /sbin/

Then,

dd if=/sbin/stockrecovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/by-name/recovery

Step 7: Wait for a minute and then type:

adb reboot

If you followed the steps correctly, your device will reboot into CyanogenMod 7.

If you would like to get intimate with your Kindle Fire you need ADB access, or Android Developer Bridge.

The first thing you need is the Android SDK and then add the Vendor ID for Amazon’s Lab126 9oX1949) to the adb_usb.ini file. Chances are that if you’re doing this, the previous sentence made perfect sense to you, but if not, a quick Google search will yield the information about the Android SDK that you require.

Step 1

Go to %USERPROFILE%\.android , once you’re there, edit the adb_usb.ini file and add the following line at the end:

0×1949

Save and exit.

Step 2

Navigate to the location where you have installed th Android SDK, oen the folder labeled google-usb_driver and hunt down the android_winusb.inf fileand under the following lines under the [Google.NETx86] and [Google.Ntamd64] sections:

;Kindle Fire

%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_1949&PID_0006

%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_1949&PID_0006&MI_01

Save and exit the file. That’s it, you’re done with the ADB part.

Enable Root Access

Step 1

Plug in your Kindle Fire to your PC, we’re assuming you’ve already plugged it in since you did go through the above written ADB hassle.

Step 2

Open Device Manager from your PC, and under “Other Devices”; you should see the Kindle Fire, now select the android_winusb.inf file.

Step 3

Enable installation of apps from Unknown Sources. You can do so by tapping the top-most bar on your Kindle Fire and navigate to Choose More and head over to Device, over there you should see a listed device.

Step 4

Head over to this thread over at XDA and download the SuperOneClick tool.

Step 5: Run SuperOneClick and simply click on the Root button on the top-left of the tool, that’s all. You now have a rooted Kindle Fire with complete Superuser access.

Amazon has also given users the option of installing third-party apps onto the Fire, with just one option needing switching on in order to give apps the green light.

We’ll go through the drill one more time just to make it more clear on how to install third-party apps; head on over to Settings, and then Device. You’ll want to turn on ‘Allow Installation of Applications’ and hit OK when the warning box pops up. Amazon will warn about possible security risks, but we’re sure you’ll be fine with that given the plus side to installing your own apps.

The new version has minor application updates: Browser, Email, Gallery, MMS, Google.apk, Maps, Swype, Talk (doesn’t include Video Call) and Voice Search. Some annoying bugs were fixed like: Phone. In quadrant. This version doesn’t bring anything new to the table. The scoring in VooDoo LagFix is about 1350 and 1900+.

The best rooting method is CF Root – JVQ. We call also root the XXJVQ from CWM using SppedMod kernel.

A custom ROM is a variation of the original ROM (DarkyRom, CyanogenMod and Miui). Flashing new ROMs can be like an addiction to you, because new possibilities can present with a new ROM.

Recently a new app was released which allows you to install two different ROMs on your Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100.

The app is called SGS2 Dual-Boot Setup (LolBoot) and it allows you to install two ROMs on your Galaxy S2, and you can change between them any time you want.

The app can be found in Android Market:

Dual-Boot your Galaxy S2!

/!\ Requires root /!\
/!\ This is for the Galaxy S2 *ONLY* /!\

(i) please note:
——————–
the dual-boot itself is still kind of in experimental stage and there are still some incompatibilities with some ROMs and other quirks.

Currently there are over 30 ROMs available in the internet for Samsung Galaxy S and at least two or three may interest you. Thanks to this app you can now have two ROM’s on your phone.

We don’t recommend this app to average users because it is still in development, and you can mess up your phone for good if you don’t know what you are doing.

The app need a rooted Samsung Galaxy S2, and a flashed kernel witch should support dual-booting.

On HTC you can install up to 5 ROM’s at once. You can switch between them with a restart.

The app can be downloaded for free from Android Market:

Download SGS2 Dual-Boot Setup (LolBoot)

There is also a beta version of CyanogenMod 9 for Samsung Galaxy S users, and it is fully functional. Only one bug is known: it wipes your SD Card completely.

There’s a few fixes in the new build including adding missing dictionaries and removing duplicate keyboards. The build is ready for daily use and adds Google Wallet Support for your device.

Before we get started you need two things:

CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 11

Google Apps Add-on

The files can be downloaded from XDA – Developers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356228

Let’s get started:

Step 1

Hopefully you’ll already running an earlier version of CyanogenMod. If you are, skip to Step 3. If not, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2

Root your Nexus S or Galaxy S; you might have to Google around for the latter. It’s an easy task but with quite a few steps.

Step 3

Be sure Rom Manager(get it from Android Market) is installed then open it on your device. Check that ClockWorkMod Recovery (the Samsung tutorial works on all phones) has the latest version installed.

Step 4

Back up your data. While still in ROM Manager, scroll down and select “Backup Current ROM”. Once completed the backup can be found in your SD card under ‘clockworkmod’ directory. It may be a good idea to transfer this data to your computer in case you need to restore to an earlier state.

Step 5

Install ICS by selecting “Install ROM from SD Card” in the ROM Manager menu.

Step 6

Select “Wipe Data and Cache”.

Step 7

Select “Wipe Dalvik Cache”.

Step 8

Repeat the Steps 3 to 7, but this time with the Google Add-on files.

Your phone will automatically restart. After it reboots, you’ll be welcomed by the Ice Cream Sandwich set up screen. Remember, since this particular build is pre-rooted, you’ll have to restore from backup if you wish to revert to the Gingerbread version. For now, the build seems to be working great.

It is called One Click Root. The rooting tool was created by Senior Member and TGA_Gunnman from XDA – Developers. This tool roots both Android 2.1 Éclair and Android 2.2 Froyo and offers one click unroot option.

Next you can find a step by step tutorial on rooting and unrooting Samsung Galaxy S i9000 in just one click.

If you are a Windows user, you need to do two things:

Download Samsung Drivers (for Windows 32 or 64bit, depending on what you are using)

The rooting app needs Dot Net Framework Version 4 to work.

Let’s get you started:

Step 1

Make sure USB Debugging is on (Settings > Applications > Development).

Step 2

Download GalaxyS_I9000_One-Click_Root.

Step 3

Next, connect your phone to the computer and start the file you downloaded in step 2.

Step 4

Now click One Click Root 2.1 or 2.2 and follow the programs instructions. Please note that for One-click root 2.1, your phone needs to be running Android 2.1 Eclair and for One-click Root 2.2, Android 2.2 Froyo.

Step 5

If you are planning to unroot you Samsung Galaxy S i9000, follow all the steps, and in Step 4 click One Click Unroot.

Congratulations, you now own a rooted phone.

This tool grants you access to the core of your phone and thus becoming a superuser.

MotorolaOneClickRoot in theory works on all Motorola phones running GingerBread. Because of different reasons, we were unable to get our hands on all Motorola phones. The following phones can be routed with MotorolaOneClickRoot:

Motorola Droid 3: the successor of Droid 2. The producers say it has a 30% faster graphics chip than its predecessor. It’s the first Motorola phone capable of recording 1080p full HD videos.

Motorola Droid 2: this phone is the successor of Motorola Milestone. It comes with Android 2.2 Froyo.

Motorola Droid X2: it comes with a 4.3-inch screen, with qHD resolution, 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 8MP camera.

Motorola Droid X: when Motorola launched this phone, said it will self-destruct if you try to root it. Well, MotorolaOneClickRoot didn’t manage to terminate it.

As I said earlier, this rooting method should work, on other Motorola phones, like: Droid Pro, D2 Global (when a new update will be released) and Droid Bionic.

Before we get started, you need some files:

Download MotorolaOneClickRoot.zip

Motorola USB Drivers Windows 32bit or Motorola USB Drivers Windows 64bit

Let’s get started:

Step 1

Make sure you installed the Motorola USB Drivers.

Step 2

Unzip MotorolaOneClickRoot into your computer.

Step 3

Make sure USB Debugging is ON. You can find it on your phone in Settings > Applications > Development.

Step 4

Connect the phone to the computer and select Charge Only.

Step 5

Run MotorolaOneClickRoot. If you have Windows Vista/7, right click on the .exe file and Run as Administrator.

Step 6

A command window will appear with several simple instructions. Follow them.

Step 7

After 3 steps, the phone will reboot. When it will boot back on, you are finished.

Congratulations! You now own a rooted Motorola phone.

But if you don’t want to wait for the RC version, we posted a guide on how to get and install it.

Before you get started, make sure your phone is fully charged and you have at least 200 MB of free space on your microSD card. Also if your phone is not rooted, follow this link to root it: Root Galaxy S2 on Android 2.3.3.

Let’s get started:

Step 1

Make sure your device is rooted.

Step 2

Step 3

Launch ROM Manager and tap Flash ClockworkMod Recovery and select Samsung Galaxy S2. When asked for root permissions, allow it.

Step 4

When Step 3 is finished, boot into ClockworkMod recovery. Do this by opening ROM Manager and tap Reboot into Recovery.

Step 5

After the reboot, open ROM Manager again. Tap on Download ROM and select CyanogenMod Nightly after tapping on CyanogenMod. Be sure to choose the Google Apps option if you want Gmail/YouTube/Google Search apps to be pre-installed with the new ROM. ROM Manager will now download CM7 Nightly for your SGS2

Step 6

Once downloaded; it will ask you to Backup Existing ROM, Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache. Tap yes!

Step 7

CyanogenMod 7 Nightly for your Samsung Galaxy S II will now be installed. Your device will be usable after automatic rebooting.

Rooting Samsung Galaxy S2 has become an easy process. For the process of rooting Android 2.3.3 we have to give a big thanks to Chainfire, a member of XDA-Developers.

So, if you decide to root your Galaxy S2 on Android 2.3.3, follow this guide.

In a guide posted on XDA-Developers we found this:

“Following is a guide on how to perform the root. It is rather easy if you know the drill from other Galaxy devices, but if you are a complete beginner with Samsung phones or Android in general, please read very closely! Try to remember what you do, as likely in the future you’ll be using ODIN more often, to flash custom kernels, custom/leaked firmwares, etc.

Quick guide (for experienced users)
- Reboot into download mode
- Using the attached Odin version, flash the attached XWKDD kernel as PDA. Do not use the PIT, do not have any options checked except for “Auto reboot” and “F. Reset Time”
- Wait for the device to reboot
- Use the “adb root” command to restart ADB in root mode, followed by “adb shell” to get a rooted shell; then you can manually push Superuser.apk / su, busybox, OR use SuperOneClick to finish the job for you.

Long guide (for beginners)
- Download the attached ODIN file and extract the .zip file

- Download the attached XWKDD, but do NOT extract the .tar file

- Download and extract SuperOneClick

- If you do not have Samsung’s KIES 2.0 installed, download and install it. You need it to install the correct USB drivers, so the programs can communicate with the device. Reebot your computer after installation of KEYS.

- Make sure your device is in USB debugging mode: Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging
- Reboot your device into download mode: Turn the device off, then power it on again by pressing and holding VolumeDown + Home + Power simultaneously. You will know when you are in download mode, it is really obvious
- Start ODIN

Recently Android Market was hit by malware apps. The purpose of these bad apps is to steal data from your phone. Every time you install this sort of apps several others are automatically installed along side. Many Android users were warned to install security tools to remove the malware.

The malicious apps steal important data like IMEI number, Phone number, contacts, and will upload them to a website created by hackers. The users who are affected by this type of apps are notified by Android with a message: “Your Android phone is affected and will send an email notification and Your Android Phone is affected and we will send an email notification and the update will be automatically pushed to these devices”. The application will be automatically removed from your device when it has completed its work. If you were not received any notification from the android, then you can download the software from this link and install in your device: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.android.vending.sectool.v1

A lot of affected users didn’t receive a message from Androids Team. After installing you will notice that some apps will disappear from your phone. This means the removal works.

Tips and tricks to be safe from intruders:

Make sure all installed apps are certified by Google (search for Google Inc. as the publisher)

Try to install apps like Lookout Mobile Security, this will scan your device for malware and also allow you to transfer important data online. If you phone is lost somewhere, you can easily find out with this application.

Try installing free antivirus like: AVG Free or NetQin Antivirus.

Protect you device with a good password.

Stay away as much as possible from public Wi –Fi.

Update your device every time you have the possibility.

The alpha version of Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich supports the Galaxy Tab now. We have to give thanks to the guys from XDA-Developers, who made possible for us to try this version of Android.

Before you get started, make sure you have a rooted device and have ClockworkMod Recovery installed (follow the link if you don’t). The developers say must be on Android 2.X Gingerbread-based bootloader and have EXT4 file format. For your safety take a nandroid backup and make sure you have enough battery to last you through the entire process.

This is an alpha version of Ice Cream Sandwich, so don’t expect everything to work smoothly.

Let’s get started:

Step 1

Download the latest build of Ice Cream Sandwich for original Galaxy Tab: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322059

Step 2

The downloaded file must be transferred on the root directory of your Galaxy Tab.

Step 3

Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery by holding down both Power Button and Volume Down buttons. Right after the Samsung logo shows, you will see two menus, let go of both buttons immediately and then hit Volume Down, then Volume Up button, you should be in ClockworkMod Recovery.

Step 4

Format /system, /data and /cache from mounts and storage under main menu of CWN.

Step 5

Wipe data / factory reset from main menu.

Step 6

Go back to main menu and choose the .zip file you transferred in step 2 from install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard. Ice Cream Sandwich will now be flashed to your Galaxy Tab.

Step 7

Go back to main menu and reboot your device.

You are Done!

Motorola Milestone is the GSM version of Motorola Droid. The Milestones comes with Android 2.1 Éclair as operating system. This OS can be easily rooted with an app that fools the OS to enable the superuser rights for a lot of apps. Still, this rooting method has a draw back. If you are looking to get access to other functions like tethering, screenshots, overclocking or you want to install a custom ROM, you have to get the full root access. The full access can be achieved by using Vulnerable Recovery Flash method.

To start rooting you phone, you need some files first:

Make sure you have the Motorola USB Drivers installed on your computer (get them from Motorola’s website).

Download and install RSD Lite 4.6

Vulnerable Recovery SBF with Bootloader RAMDLD 90.78 and lower (unzip the file after download).

Milestone Root Update.ZIP

Let’s get started:

Step 1

Make sure you have the USB drivers installed.

Step 2

Connect your phone to the PC via USB cable. Let Windows install and detect any internal devices on your phone.

Step 3

Locate the file milestone_root.zip and rename it to update.zip. now copy it to the root of your SD card.

Step 4

Disconnect the phone, run RSDLite 4.6 on your PC , and connect the phone again. If you pull down the status bar and tap on ‘Select to manage your USB Connection’, you will see that the Milestone is now connected on Portals & Tools. If any other Motorola applications start off, ignore and exit them.

Step 5

RDSLite will show your phone model number ‘A853’ and the status should be ‘Connected’.

Step 6

Press ‘…’ button to browse for the ‘vulnerable_recovery_only_RAMDLD90_78.sbf’ and load it.

Step 7

The ‘Start’ button would now be enabled. Please ensure the USB connection is secure and start the flash.

Step 8

Keep an eye on the status bar, the Milestone will reboot into bootloader, flash the recovery firmware and start back up into RSD Lite showing a ‘Finished’ or ‘PASS’ status.

Step 9

Exit RSDLite and Remove the USB Connection

Step 10

Power off your phone. Press and Hold the ‘X’ button on the device and press the Power button, keep them help until the phone boots into recovery.(screen will show an exclamation mark inside a triangle)

Step 11

Press and hold down the Volume Up button + Camera button to go into Android System Recovery.

Step 12

You would be presented with four menu options. Scroll down to ‘Apply Update:update.zip’ using the D-pad and the golden key to enter.

Step 13

Wait for the process to complete and select ‘Reboot System’ to let the phone boot back into Android.

Congratulations! You are done.

To confirm root access, you have two methods available: a new app should appear on your phone called Supersuser Whitelist which tells you have root access. Another way to find out if you have a rooted phone is to download any terminal emulator and enter su on it. A popup should appear asking for superuser permissions rights. When permission is granted, the $ sign should change to # confirming you have superuser rights.

Without this you can’t install custom ROMs, non-Market apps, modding, overclocking CPU, and so on. Basically you are now in full control of the device. Also with different tweaks you can enhance the phones power.

The rooting method was developed by clock workmod, which posted a picture with the Nexus S running custom ClockworkMod Recovery.

This is the guide he posted on xda-developers forums:

First, reboot into your bootloader/fastboot mode. (Volume + Power Up, or adb reboot bootloader)

fastboot oem unlock

Then, install this recovery:

http://koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-herring.img

fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-herring.img

Then boot into Clockwork recovery and install the Superuser zip file (adb reboot recovery, or from fastboot choose recovery):

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828

To install a rooted/insecure boot image (adb has root):

http://koush.tandtgaming.com//samsung/herring/rootboot.img

fastboot flash boot rootboot.img

ROM Manager support is coming shortly.

The ClockworkMod was created by codeworkx , a developer from xda, and it work on Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 and it powers up the upcoming CyanogenMod 7.

If you decide to get it on your phone keep reading this article and you will find everything you need.

First you need to download these files:

GT-I9100_ClockworkMod-Recovery_4.0.0.2

Odin3-v1.85

Now, only a few more steps and you are done. These instructions are provided by the developer himself.

Power your device off. Boot into Download-Mode using Volume Down + Home + Power. Hit Volume. Up to accept the warning. Start Odin. Choose “GT-I9100_ClockworkMod-Recovery_X.X.X.X.tar” as PDA (no repartition). Connect your phone. Start flashing. After reboot you can easily root your device using SuperOneClick.

Instructions: Press Volume Up + Home + Power button to put your phone into Recovery Mode. Now use the volume keys to navigate and Power button to select.

If you are having problems, go to this article Root Samsung Galaxy S2, and a more detailed guide is in there. You can follow it, with one exception: use the ClockworkMod Recovery file downloaded here instead of the one available for download there.

HTC HD2 is one of the very first mobile phones to get the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Even though this particular phone is no longer produced, it got a lot of support from the developers community. The HD2 first came with Windows Mobile 6.5, but thanks to rooting it can support Android easily.

If you would like to test the Alpha Build of the Ice Cream Sandwich, here are some facts you need to know first: data connection (3G) is missing, so it’s audio, USB mass storage and camera support. This version is for testing only and not for daily usage. Still it is fun to try.

The developer had this to say about it:

Installation:

Please use at least 150MB system partition (and at least 2MB cache partition). (New version may need larger system partition.)

Full Wipe.

Flash the ROM.

MAGLDR: Flash NexusHD2-IceCreamSandwich_Alpha1.zip, then reboot.

cLK : Flash NexusHD2-IceCreamSandwich_Alpha1.zip andcLK_kernel_for_ICS.zip, then reboot.

The official version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich came with the Galaxy Nexus. The new user interface makes Android look mature.
